"First of all release the Walker, only with a 040 or 060 and improve ChipRAM speed. Use a standard PC Tower, as it'll be cheaper.

Don't expect it to sell more than 100,000 units or so without any big marketing. Make a PowerUp/CyberVision deal for less than 1000 when it has been out for a while and prices of these products have come down in price.

Then, develop a PPC machine based on the Pios TransAm, running AmigaOS 4.0. It should maintain full API-compatability, and look roughly the same (although a nice iconset and 800x600 as standard would be fine), and all bugs must be removed. I don't care much for memory protection - the Amiga won't ever be used much by ISP's and other companies who might need this feature in the OS anyway.

It should not be out before the Summer of 1998.

Sell a low-end model for below 600, excluding monitor and MARKET it and you are on a winner. Definately.

And PLEASE, please co-operate with Phase 5 and Pios whenever possible, we cannot afford a split in the marker. The machines must run the same OS, preferably AmigaOS 4.0"

James Ceraldi (Voter #141) said :
"Take the 3rd party and Shareware author advancements over the past two years and incorporate them into a new OS package. Forget memory protection and all the other OS buzz-words and add functionality, including starting a port of the OS to the PowerPC processor."

"I would like to see Gateway respond to the possibility of finishing off the Hombre chips which are 90% done."

NAME NOT GIVEN (Voter #145) said :
"We need PPC based Amigas to compete with the Pentiums. To be able to have games like Grand Prix 2. We need the power to make this happen. Also a much better graphics capability. Anyone using the Amiga is now not worried about cost to a certain point. This should all be acheived for around 750."

"It's been a long wait for a new owner. I'd like to see a new base machine (a hot tower A1200 with 060/50, GFX board), mid level (Phase 5's hot new machine). Better recognition for the Amiga.

And if the President of Gateway2000 REALLY doesn't like Gates / Microsoft how 'bout a great new operating system like the Amigas? :)

More PC ports (to go with the ones already coming)"

Sean Clark (Voter #148) said :
"Zorro slots as standard, quality OS (Amiga-based)"

Luke Davey (Voter #152) said :
"OS4 (PowerPC version) must be developed and released as soon as possible. Also, when everything is up and running, the Amiga's strengths must be advertised (a TV advert showing TRUE multitasking and the PowerPC at work should turn a few heads)."

Bill Eaves (Voter #153) said :
"More paralell ports than just the one the A1200 has. Always having to unplug the printer is a pain.

It is better to choose your Internet software than have a set provided with the machine. I work for an ISP and know how users get into a total mess using so called Internet Ready PCs and Macs.

I use Pentium systems at work on a daily basis but far prefer my 68030 Amiga which runs far more smoothly than Win95 and boots up within a reasonable time scale. PCs aren't all they are hyped up to be AT ALL."

Michael French (Voter #154) said :
"I think all new software should be made to run with Picasso96 software."

Kim Troldner (Voter #159) said :
"Amiga has to come to the top again. This is ONLY possible with a new hardware concept and a new OS. But it would take too much time and too much money, so why not take really good and already developed third party stuff? The Amiga could have an instant revival...

Just take the PPC technology of Phase5 and their famous GFX boards and CyberGFX 3. Add pOS, a new and smart OS, pack all together in a little tower with some standard expansion slots..

..voila! This machine could beat the PCs and Windows!

But don't hesitate... DO IT! Time is short!"

Israel Cortes (Voter #160) said :
"The next Amiga should be a DEC Alpha based system. Gateway should buy Apple computers before some other rival buys it up and destroys the technology.

Gateway should talk with Sony Corp about getting them to make PlayStation boards that can be put into the next generation Amigas.

The combination of Apple followers and Sony PlayStation fans on a next generation DEC Alpha Amiga would be a fantastic combination."

Denis Hranji (Voter #161) said :
"I think that Gateway2000 recieved a real chance of marketing an alternative but competitive computer with the purchase of Amiga Technologies. Due to its large and devoted user base, there's always a probability that it can outsell the Intel based computers in a few years. Intel users are likely to swap sides as soon as they'll be able to see advertisement of alternative products in the media."

Marco Marini (Voter #162) said :
"It should be time to update the Amiga hardware, something like the Escom Walker (ARGHHHH! Not THAT! - Ed). We need more compatability with standard peripherals, a bit more graphics etc... would Caipirihna be the successor of Lisa on our next low priced Amiga? We are waiting...."

Kenneth Skoge (Voter #163) said :
"Please, do some advertising outside the established Amiga community when the new Amiga arrives. And keep it brief and to the point so that people understand just why they would want an Amiga. Not like Microsoft does. The Windows 95 ads from a couple of years ago told the audience nothing about the product and why it was so good."

Jolyon Ralph (Voter #164) said :
"Gateway should include a configured version of the UAE Amiga Emulator with their PCs rather than building new Amigas. That way everyone gets to enjoy using Amiga stuff without having to spend money on an obsolete machine."

Morne Geldenhuys (Voter #165) said :
"I am from South Africa and I currently own an A1200 machine.

Save Amiga PLEASE!!!

There can only be one system : AMIGA.

Please design the new Amiga to be better than any other IBM or PC based machine also make the price decent."

Paul Heald (Voter #167) said :
"Please support the Amiga in these desperate times."

Wolfgang Lenger (Voter #170) said :
"The future of the Amiga definitely lies in the PowerPC technology in combination with 100% compatability to 680x0 processors.
One of the main reasons I didn't switch over to a PC is that I would lose all the software, hardware and the know how of the internals of my computer (I'm with the Amiga since 1989 (Same here - Ed.)
If I couldn't use all my software and data and more, I would be quite disappointed! But I'm really interested in buying one of these Phase5 PowerUP boards."

Paul Kitching (Voter #171) said :
"I do not want to see several different companies making Amiga clones that are not 100% compatible with each other and causing people to choose between them. This would split the Amiga market and make it much more difficult for the Amiga to be successful again.
It would be very nice to have existing software running on the new machine. what about having Firmware upgrades? After it has been out a year or two and a new Kickstart and Workbench come out you could take your Amiga to a shop and plug it into their Amiga and get a ROM upgrade! This would be a lot cheaper than getting a new chip.
I would like it to have at least 16 audio channels."

John Linde (Voter #173) said :
"The Amiga needs a serious blitz campaign. Infomercials, and spots on the computer shows currently on cable will reach many many new people. Commercials of 5 seconds to start with just to get people curious. Remember the movie Ghostbusters? All they showed was a logo with a coming soon caption. My idea , and you can use it if you wnat, is a phoenix (in fiery form), flying in, and it flies up, revealing the Amiga logo, like the coloured check, or whatever is going to be used. Then `Coming Back Soon'. The ad would get people talking about it, wondering just what it meant. Then make a longer version. Long live the Amiga. (Bloody well said! - Everyone at AOL)"

Morten Skov (Voter #174) said :
"I really love my Amiga and I would hate to see it die. But Gateway is it's last chance. I only hope they know what to do!"
